Step Three: The Story Begins

Step3

You've finally done it! You filled an empty page with your words! You kept going until you got a chapter, or more!

But then you get stuck, and you're not sure which way to take this story.

A book is different than a story. It needs craft.

I can help you find the structure of your book. Most definitely.

Yet what I notice with most of my clients is that they get stuck in the story, which is often similar or the same as THEIR story, and they can't write further.

Or can't revise or organize what they've written.

Until you get out of your story, you can't write your best book. Because you haven't found your true voice, your authentic story.

We have to heal that internal personal stuckness before we can unstick your external story and get it out to the world.

Some people can write an entire book, get through revisions, and even find a publisher without getting through this squirmy resistance they've got going on.

But that resistance will keep us stuck in the marketing phase.

I meet authors all the time who don't want to read their own work aloud,

who don't want to appear on camera,

who get upset stomachs when they give a talk or presentation,

who want to run out of the room the first time they get criticism,

who want to stop writing the first time they get a nasty question or review.

But you don't have to be that writer. You can change that anxiety. You can  leave the room where shadow and fear live.

I'm not just a book coach, but a book coach who guides you to step into your story first, then write a book that reflects where you've gone and where you want to go.

I'm not talking about just plot here, but essence. The point you want to make. The reason you get up wanting to write every day.

My methods are experiential and tailored to the writer or writers I am supporting. I use meditations, visualizations, games, questionnaires, discussion cards, and my own guidance to lead you on your book's path.

Of course I can help you with book structure and narrative arc.

I can figure out what your book is missing because we'll dig deep.

I can help you figure out how many Points of View your book is asking for.

But first, let's break through your resistance to writing and publishing in the first place.

When you schedule a 20-minute complimentary get-to-know-each-other call or if you join my newsletter list, you will receive a gift from me. I'll send you a personalized channeling of what your needy gremlin wants from you, and what your wise, compassionate angel wants to tell you.

You CAN choose which one guides you, and I can show you how.

So contact me now, or get to know me through my newsletter and get my free audio Step Into Your Story! (TM) meditation.

Most of my clients use this meditation every time they sit down to write, and they love how it puts them into an intuitive space where gremlins can't tread.

You've read what I do. Thanks.

Now you need to know what I don't do, so you can determine if we're the right coaching fit.

I am a coach, not a therapist.

I am a big picture, developmental coach, not a ghost writer.

I am a catalyst, not an editor.

I am not a proofreader.

I can give you publishing guidance. I cannot find you a publisher.

I am a writer, not a website designer.

I can give you social media tips. I am not a social media guru.

I am not a virtual assistant or a geek. I hire those services out.

I can recommend people for these jobs, who are experts in their fields. I can advise you on all of these matters. However, I cannot write your book, publish your book, or ensure it sells a million copies, or get you a huge advance from a Big Five publisher.

I work best with people who have both a story to tell and have some writing experience. Or with writers who have a proven track record, no matter how long.

If you want to write your best story before sending it to your writing group, your copy editor or proofer, or your list of agents or publishers, please do contact me. Often writers think any story arc will "sell." But to enter the publishing arena, it's best to begin with a book that has a strong narrative arc joined with a strong (emotion-evoking) character arc.

Let me train and guide you in what works. Internally first. Then out into the real world. Then you'll be empowered to do the rest.

Because that's my secret gift, I catalyze people to believe in themselves. I empower them to act.
